WHO IS T.C.EDGE?

T.C. Edge is the author of the completed epic fantasy series Bladeborn Saga, as well as several dystopian and speculative sci-fi series.

Based in London, he enjoys torturing himself by creating ever-growing casts of characters to populate his worlds, before attempting to corral them all into something resembling a coherent narrative. This requires large quantities of coffee in the mornings and wine in the evenings. He tries not to get the two mixed up.

He is currently hard at work on his next saga and, despite repeatedly promising himself that it would be a smaller, simpler affair, it is rapidly becoming the most complex work he has ever undertaken. At this point, he has accepted that he is probably a masochist.

PHASE ONE - SCI FI - 2015-2020

Dystopian and speculative sci-fi was his first calling. This perhaps had something to do with the fact that The Hunger Games was all the rage back then, and Toby (that would be the T in T.C.) wanted to try his hand at writing something similar.

The result was The Watchers of Eden, his first novel, and one that would eventually spawn both a trilogy and a sequel trilogy. Moderate success was achieved. This moderate success was leveraged into greater success with The Enhanced, at which point a full-time career as an author suddenly seemed possible. The years that followed expanded this universe into several interconnected series of varying length, ambition, and success.

But it was never his true calling.

Something was waiting in the shadows. Something he had always wanted to write, but had never quite felt ready to attempt.

Was he ready?

Was his training complete?

Was it time?

It was time.

And so, in 2020—and during that particularly memorable period of all our lives—Toby's wife finally convinced him to stop talking about writing an epic fantasy series and actually do it.

He strode into a bright new dawn.

PHASE TWO - BLADEBORN - 2020-2026

In 2020, Toby wrote and published The Song of the First Blade, the first book in The Bladeborn Saga, expecting trumpets, bunting, flybys by the Red Arrows—the works.

What he got was a reception that would shame a funeral.

Crickets.

Well, not quite. But expectation versus reality is a very real thing, and having built a respectable readership in sci-fi, Toby (mistakenly, as it turned out) assumed his pivot to epic fantasy would be greeted with rather more enthusiasm.

It was not.

Sales were poor. Reviews trickled in. There appeared to be a disconcerting apathy from the reading world. But pot-committed as he was, Toby persisted. He wrote the second book, then the third, and only then realised his covers were rather poor and had them professionally redesigned.

The rest, as they say, is history.

The saga went from strength to strength. Toby signed with Podium Entertainment. Audiobooks exploded. Foreign deals appeared. Readers arrived in ever-growing numbers.

In June 2026, the final volume was released, putting a rather fancy bow around the saga, fulfilling Toby's original ambition and confirming that perhaps he isn't entirely terrible at this epic fantasy business after all.

His wife likes to remind him that she told him so.

Often.

Annoyingly, she isn't wrong.

PHASE THREE - THE NEXT LEVEL - 2026-ONGOING

The future is bright.

Toby is currently deploying his creative efforts towards his next saga, all hush-hush right now until it's not, and this page is updated accordingly. What can be said is that it is epic, mythic, messy, and involves a lot more swearing than The Bladeborn Saga ever did.

Life, also—yes, he has one—is similarly vibrant, but I'll not bore you with the details. Suffice it to say that both his fictional worlds and his real one have become considerably busier in recent years.

If you'd like to follow along with the unfolding tale, you can find him on Instagram and Facebook, where he talks about books, shares artwork, celebrates victories, complains about algorithms, and occasionally emerges from behind his keyboard to prove he still exists.
